This season, soprano Jennifer Check sings Abigaille in Nabucco with Opéra national de Montpellier, Fifth Maid in Elektra with Houston Grand Opera and returns to the Metropolitan Opera for their productions of Norma and Così fan tutte. Recent performances include Lady Macbeth in Macbeth (Opéra de Nancy et de Lorraine), Elisabeth in Don Carlos (Caramoor International Music Festival), the title role in Aida and Leonore in Il trovatore (Utah Opera), High Priestess in Aida (Metropolitan Opera), the title roles in Ariande auf Naxos (Opéra de Toulon) and Iphigénie in Iphigénie en Tauride (Palau de les Artes Reina Sofía), Chrysothemis in Elektra (Michigan Opera Theatre), Lady Macbeth in Macbeth and the title role of Norma (Palm Beach Opera and the Opera Company of Philadelphia), Sirin in The Legend of the Invisible City of Kitezh (Nederlandse Opera), Madame Lidoine in Dialogues des Carmélites (Austin Lyric Opera), Blanche de la Force in Dialogues des Carmélites (Caramoor International Music Festival), Lady Billows in Albert Herring (Castleton Festival), and Clorinda in La cenerentola (Spoleto Festival USA).
Ms. Check’s concert performances include the Verdi Requiem (Detroit Symphony Orchestra, Chicago Philharmonic, Virginia Symphony Orchestra, and the Brevard Music Festival) and Elgar’s The Apostles (American Symphony Orchestra). She is a first place winner of the Lyndon Woodside Oratorio-Solo Competition. Her most recent appearance with the Society was at its 2015 performance of the Verdi Requiem at the Cathedral of St. John the Divine.
